PRP Therapy

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for hair loss is a restorative process that is performed in three-step.

It is a medical treatment that involves drawing a patient’s blood and processing it to finally inject it into the scalp.

PRP injections are considered to induce natural hair growth. Along with that, they also tend to maintain growth by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle.

It also helps in increasing the thickness of the hair shaft. In some cases, PRP therapy is combined with other hair loss procedures or medications.

Though many cosmetic surgeons recommend getting PRP therapy, there is not enough research proving its effectiveness as a hair loss treatment.

The usage of this therapy can be traced back to the 1980s. Initially, it was used for healing injured tendons, ligaments, and muscles.

Risks Includes:

Probably, the above-mentioned procedure sounds scary (drawing blood and injecting into the scalp through needles!!), but contrary to it, there is no such real risk in the PRP process. Mostly the patients get injections by numbing and there is minimal discomfort. Cool air or ice packs may also be used in minimizing pain.

What results you can expect?

In order to get the best results, you should consult your hair transplant regularly. Generally, the PRP therapies are performed once a month for the initial 3-4 months. And then once in every 3-6 months.

Initially, a patient may notice in the reduction of the hair fall, followed by the regrowth of the hair, along with the increase in the length of hair. As per the hair specialist, if a patient is looking for the long-term results then receiving treatment every 3-6 months is optimal.
